So what is barefruit all about?

Barefruit Marketing® is the creation of Claire and Evan Harding, who together have over 40 years experience as marketing consultants in the communications industry, both in the UK and Australia.

We have worked with brands big and small and with budgets from zero to bigger than some country’s GDP, but there was something missing… actually seeing the impact of our efforts (and hard work) first hand.

Living in the Northern Rivers on the North Coast of NSW we are surrounded by amazing brands, built by incredibly talented people. These people are so good at what they do but don’t have the time or energy to put into the marketing of their business to spread the word and grow their brand. We want to work with these businesses and brands, and together help them flourish and prosper.

Marketing is something that needs time; time to think, to plan and implement, and then change if it’s not working. With everything else that goes with running a business, business owners don’t always have the luxury of time.

That is why we created Barefruit Marketing®, a down to earth, cost-effective marketing agency that produces work that delivers measurable results.

How do we like to work?

We can work independently as your ‘marketing department’, or alongside an existing marketing team on an ongoing or project basis. We firmly believe that we need to know you and your business before we can recommend any long term marketing strategies. We want to get to know you and really understand what drives you to do what you do, and what drives your customers to purchase from you.

To begin, we like to have a ‘getting to know you’ meeting, which will most likely consist of a few coffees and us asking you lots and lots of questions. We will then meet again, probably over another coffee or two, where we will present and discuss some recommendations that will be tailored to meet your business objectives and financial situation.

We want this to be a mutually-beneficial, long-lasting relationship, so we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ model. Once we have agreed on a plan, you can leave it to us and our talented team to deliver the best possible solutions for you and your business.

so... who are we?

Evan
Head Harvester

Evan studied marketing at university in England, then travelled to Australia and fell in love with the country, vowing he'd return.

After working at the same regional agency as Claire, the couple moved to London where they both worked with reputable agencies on brands including Fiat and Aviva, before moving to Australia.

Both Evan and Claire have worked on strategic marketing and planning with brands including Barclays Bank, Dunhill, Strongbow, Aviva, Royal Carribean Cruises, Holiday Inn and Duracell. When Evan is not in the office, you'll find him either DJing at local bars or balancing it all out at the gym.

Claire
Chief Juicer

Claire has worked in the Marketing Communications industry for over 20 years, starting her career in a regional agency in England. She went on to work with some of the best agencies in London with brands including Royal Carribean Cruises and Strongbow, before moving to Australia with her husband Evan.

At Barefruit, Claire oversees the strategic direction of your business and ensures the smooth running of campaigns. Claire is also a board member for Rafiki Mwema, a safe house for traumatised children in Kenya.

When she's not at work (which is rare) you'll likely find Claire at the gym or a wine bar.

Felismina
Digital Account Director

Although she dreamt of a career as a tap dancer, Felismina (Fliss) instead left university with a Business (Marketing) degree and moved quickly into the corporate world as a Change Management Consultant. In this role, Fliss honed her skills in business analysis and human performance in the world of custom IT solutions. Always one to jump at opportunities, Fliss and her partner left corporate jobs to start a digital agency in 2000 - when we didn't even know the world was in Web 1.0!

Having watched the world wide web evolve and supported many small to medium-sized businesses enable their business through digital solutions, Fliss remains passionate about helping clients to navigate the increasingly complex digital world to meet real business objectives.

After a lifetime in Sydney, Fliss and her family relocated to the Northern Rivers where she has worked in government programs supporting small business owners implement their own digital strategy. She joins the Barefruit team with a renewed energy to implement digital solutions with the talents and minds of this amazing team.

Cat
Agency Manager

Cat grew up in New Zealand. She then spent a couple of years travelling the world working on superyachts, which then led her to Australia where she married and never left.

She has previously worked as a PA/Office Manager for about 15 years and also worked for Vodafone, KMPG, Macquarie Bank and RedBalloon. She loves working for organisations that care about their employees and loves that she gets to help create great office cultures. She has a diploma in Event Management & Interior Design (which is coming in handy for building her first home!).

In Cat's spare time, she is either out walking her kelpie Reggie, working on her new house with the hubby, or doing something crafty like making custom macrame wall hangings and teaching macrame workshops at local stores.

Cassie
Senior Account Manager

Cassie has over 12 years’ marketing experience across diverse brands including Opera Bar (at the Sydney Opera House), PRP Diagnostic Imaging and The Macadamia Castle. She has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing (with distinction) at Notre Dame University Sydney, and spent one year studying International Marketing in Lyon, France. She also has a Double Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (with distinction), where she was selected to speak at the International Peace for Tourism Conference.

Cassie has travelled to over 22 different countries including camping across the Middle East. She now calls Ballina home where she lives with her hubby (who she brought back from France) and 2 kids.

In her spare time you’ll find her doing yoga, running, or playing team sports.

Lucy
Account Executive

Lucy was born in the UK and grew up in a small town in Lincolnshire called Market Rasen. She was given her first camera when she was 11 years old and has been taking photographs ever since, capturing moments in time, ones to remember for the rest of her life.

In 2008, Lucy moved to Australia and branched into film and event management, completing a Diploma of Digital Film Production at SAE Institute and a Cert III and Diploma in Event Management. Lucy brings her photography, film, event and entrepreneurial spirit to Barefruit as an Account Executive.

When she isn’t behind the lens, you will most likely find her at the beach with her dog and hubby or at the local markets with her jumping castle business. She enjoys kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, camping, travelling, photography, gym classes, fun runs, charity events and interior design.

Bec
Account Executive

Bec is our assistant marketer here at Barefruit. Bec graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Management) with distinction from the University of Wollongong in 2021. Bec was born and raised in Sydney and has moved to Ballina for something new, to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Northern Rivers, and to kick start her marketing career at Barefruit.
Her love for creativity, learning, social media, and people are what drove Bec to embark on studying Marketing. When Bec isn’t at work she’s most likely kicking an AFL ball as she is a mid-fielder for the local Ballina Bombers.

Nat
Creative Genius

Natalie is a local Lismore girl who, after completing her diploma in graphic design up north made her way back to her home town and worked for a large media company for 12 years. She then branched out on her own, using her graphic and web design skills to help her clients look great.

Some of the larger clients Nat has had the pleasure to design for include P&O Cruises and Rituals. With a strong background in print, Nat is a bit of guru at designing advertisements but she also enjoys letting the creative juices flow with logo design, branding, digital and everything in between.

Ashleigh
Digital Account Manager

Ashleigh has completed her certificate III in Business and her Certificate IV in Marketing and Communications. Ashleigh is passionate about digital media and marketing, has a keen eye for detail – and is always eager to learn!

She brings experience from previously working in a fast-paced, customer service role at a Real Estate agency, retail environments and has also worked freelance with a couple of her own clients designing and setting up small WordPress websites.

Ashleigh is a born and bred local, residing in the Northern Rivers with her son Eddie and husband. When she’s not in the office, you’ll likely find her outdoors on family adventures – fishing and camping or at her favourite cocktail bar – she has also been known to give it a good crack at karaoke.

Charlotte
Account Executive

Charlotte has always had her hands in some sort of art project, whether that be painting, drawing, sewing, embroidering, or more recently, digital illustration and animation. It is this creative side of Charlotte that lead her to study a Bachelor of Business (Advertising) at Queensland University of Technology. Halfway into her degree, Charlotte left behind everyone and everything she knew for a six-month exchange in France. Ten countries, several missed trains and a 30kg suitcase later (and far too much bread, cheese and wine), she came home with the French language mastered.

In 2018, Charlotte graduated from her bachelor’s with distinction and jumped straight into an Account Executive position at the global, creative advertising agency, VMLY&R in Brisbane. After was a fast-paced year of learning on the go, it was time for a change.

And so, at the beginning of 2020, Charlotte moved to the Northern Rivers, and couldn’t be happier about it. When she’s not working, you’ll find Charlotte at the beach surfing with friends enjoying the sun and saltwater. Or, she’ll be at home, headphones in and covered in paint, pen or pencil.

Maggie
Head of Security

Maggie is our head of security here at Barefruit. She is a beautiful french bulldog with a massive personality. Since joining the team, Maggie has helped us with her extensive marketing knowledge and passion for creating a fun atmosphere to work in. When she’s not hard at work she enjoys eating at your shoelaces, going for walks and squeaky toys.
