So what is barefruit all about?
Barefruit Marketing® is the creation of Claire and Evan Harding, who together have over 40 years experience as marketing consultants in the communications industry, both in the UK and Australia.
We have worked with brands big and small and with budgets from zero to bigger than some country’s GDP, but there was something missing… actually seeing the impact of our efforts (and hard work) first hand.
Living in the Northern Rivers on the North Coast of NSW we are surrounded by amazing brands, built by incredibly talented people. These people are so good at what they do but don’t have the time or energy to put into the marketing of their business to spread the word and grow their brand. We want to work with these businesses and brands, and together help them flourish and prosper.
Marketing is something that needs time; time to think, to plan and implement, and then change if it’s not working. With everything else that goes with running a business, business owners don’t always have the luxury of time.
That is why we created Barefruit Marketing®, a down to earth, cost-effective marketing agency that produces work that delivers measurable results.
How do we like to work?
We can work independently as your ‘marketing department’, or alongside an existing marketing team on an ongoing or project basis. We firmly believe that we need to know you and your business before we can recommend any long term marketing strategies. We want to get to know you and really understand what drives you to do what you do, and what drives your customers to purchase from you.
To begin, we like to have a ‘getting to know you’ meeting, which will most likely consist of a few coffees and us asking you lots and lots of questions. We will then meet again, probably over another coffee or two, where we will present and discuss some recommendations that will be tailored to meet your business objectives and financial situation.
We want this to be a mutually-beneficial, long-lasting relationship, so we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ model. Once we have agreed on a plan, you can leave it to us and our talented team to deliver the best possible solutions for you and your business.
so...who are we?
Evan studied marketing at university in England, then travelled to Australia and fell in love with the country, vowing he'd return.
After working at the same regional agency as Claire, the couple moved to London where they both worked with reputable agencies on brands including Fiat and Aviva, before moving to Australia.
Both Evan and Claire have worked on strategic marketing and planning with brands including Barclays Bank, Dunhill, Strongbow, Aviva, Royal Carribean Cruises, Holiday Inn and Duracell. When Evan is not in the office, you'll find him either DJing at local bars or balancing it all out at the gym.
Claire has worked in the Marketing Communications industry for over 20 years, starting her career in a regional agency in England. She went on to work with some of the best agencies in London with brands including Royal Carribean Cruises and Strongbow, before moving to Australia with her husband Evan.
At Barefruit, Claire oversees the strategic direction of your business and ensures the smooth running of campaigns. Claire is also a board member for Rafiki Mwema, a safe house for traumatised children in Kenya.
When she's not at work (which is rare) you'll likely find Claire at the gym or a wine bar.
Jo worked in the advertising and media industries in London before moving to Sydney where she managed advertising and branding for clients such as Diageo, Australian Rugby Union and many more.
Ten years ago, Jo became passionate about word of mouth marketing and the need for brands to join customer conversations, and she spent many years crafting WOMM campaigns for major household names. Jo brings this experience and passion for creating real relationships between a brand and their customer to the Barefruit team.
Branding and strategy is something you'll hear her talk about in the office along with where to find the best coffee or margarita depending the time of day!
Cat grew up in New Zealand. She then spent a couple of years travelling the world working on superyachts, which then led her to Australia where she married and never left.

She loves working for organisations that care about their employees and loves that she gets to help create great office cultures. She has a diploma in Event Management & Interior Design (which is coming in handy for building her first home!).
In Cat's spare time, she is either out walking her kelpie Reggie, working on her new house with the hubby, or doing something crafty like making custom macrame wall hangings and teaching macrame workshops at local stores.
